Alpine Hiking Special

Spend two nights at the Grand Hotel Kronenhof and take advantage of our special offer in cooperation with the Bergsteigerschule Pontresina, where you will have the opportunity to discover the high Alpine world of the Engadine.

On your active day you meet your personal mountain guide in the Pontresina Mountaineering School. After common materials and equipment check you'll go on the tour you have selected.

The alpinism offer is valid in June, September and October 2015..

Equipment Needed
For the tours option 1-4 a backpack about 35 L, crampon-compatible mountain boot (above ankle), warm and appropriate clothing such as fleece or softshell, Gore-Tex jacket (windshield), hand-shoes, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, trekking poles, camera, thermos & snacks are needed. Other material such as straps with carabiners, crampons, ice axes and helmets are provided free by the partner company Go Vertical.

Cost and payment
The price of your entire alpine package is made up of the cost for accommodation and the cost of the selected alpinism offer (Tour 1, 2, 3 or 4). The payment for the accomodation must be made individually at the Grand Hotel Kronenhof and the payment the alpine tour directly at the Pontresina Mountaineering School. The cable car rides are included with your two-day stay at the Grand Hotel Kronenhof.

Tour 1: Glacier Trekking Crap Pers

(Children from 12 years)
With the Diavolezza Mountain Railway it goes up to the Berghaus Diavolezza, where the overwhelming Bernina massif with the only peak above 4000 m of the eastern Alps, presents itself. Passing the Piz Trovat you reach the Pers Glacier via the narrow trail. From here you climb with crampons and a rope in a comfortable rhythm straight through the imposing "Cambrena breaks" right up to the Crap Pers. The proximity to the Piz Palü is impressive and the views unforgettable.

Tour 2: Via Ferrata La Resgia, KS3-4

(Children from 12 years)
The start is located in Pontresina. On the left side Pontresinas' waterfall you climb the rock wall. Impressive are the slightly overhanging passages that you leave behind, before continuing on to Alp Languard, to enjoy the incredible views and a piece of cake.

Tour 3: High Tour Course

Ice / rock formation, ages 10 and up)
The Tour 3 also begins with the ascent to the Berghaus Diavolezza. With the view of the spectacular Bernina massif, you will learn on the Pers and Morteratsch glacier from experienced mountain guide the handling of crampons, ice axes and the rope. And if you feel like it, you can also be introduced behind the Boval hut to rock and climbing techniques.

Tour 4: Piz Palu East Peak

With the Diavolezza Mountian Railway you reach an impressive high before passing the Piz Trovat following the narrow trail to reach the Pers Glacier. With crampons and rope you step across the imposing "Cambrena breaks" high towards Piz Palu. On the steep eastern flank and on the east ridge you will be slightly challenged before the panoramic view on top of the Palü makes you forget all the hardships.
