At the banks of the Flaz river right in front of the hotel the morning begins with guided breathing and stretching exercises. Then, a step into the glacial water itself, leaving the body clarified and the mind reset. A tea, made from regional alpine herbs, awaits as bounty.

As darkness settles over the valley, torches are lit and the group sets off from the hotel along the Steinbockweg to a vantage point high above Pontresina. Mulled wine and punch are prepared at the top. A rewarding experience, made complete by the walk back down under a sky full of stars.

A train ride into the Val Bever, five minutes from Spinas station to a vantage point where red deer gather at dusk. General Manager Claudio Laager, who has known this valley since childhood, leads the way. An aperitif completes the evening in good company. The short distance from the station makes this an easy outing for all fitness levels.

The Muottas Muragl railway carries the group up into the mountains. A short walk through the dusk before a bonfire is lit at altitude, with the valley spreading out below. A fitting meal awaits with Swiss cervelat, grilled over open flames and perfectly paired with a Bündner Brut sparkling wine.

Every Saturday at Pavillon, open fire cooking takes centre stage. Whole suckling pig, lamb, fish. Whatever the season calls for is prepared expertly over an open flame and served from noon onwards. No reservation needed. A simple and pure pleasure with a view.

The bog landscapes of the Stazersee have been here for thousands of years. A barefoot exploration of ancient moorland lies ahead. Only a short ride on e-bikes from Grand Hotel Kronenhof Pontresina, but a world apart. A grounding ritual in the heart of the valley, followed by a warming mountain herbal tea.

An evening in the Kronenhof Spa, extended until 23:00. Three sauna infusions, a Swiss stone pine or arnica body scrub and a small aperitif to close the night as enjoyable as it began.

The hotel bus heads to Morteratsch, a twenty-minute walk follows to a place that feels enchanted. The Bernina glaciers in full view, the waterfall that has been drawing people here long before the hotel existed. A warming alpine pick-me-up rounds out the memory, once the cold has settled.
