Winter Universiade 2021

The 30th Winter Universiade will open in Lucerne on 11 December 2021. After the Olympic Games, the Winter Universiade is the biggest multi-sport event in winter. The Alpine Skiing Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom races will be held in St. Moritz.

Universiades combine high-level competitive sports with educational aspects. The Winter Universiade is the largest multi-sport event for students in winter. After Villars in 1962, the Winter Universiade has been awarded to Switzerland for the second time. Between 11 and 21 December 2021, 60 sets of medals will be contested in ten sports. Around 1600 students between the ages of 17 and 25 from more than 540 universities from over 50 countries are expected in Switzerland.

Alpine skiing on Stoos and in St. Moritz
The Alpine skiing disciplines will be held on Stoos, high above Lake Lucerne, and in St. Moritz. On the courses of the Ski World Championships 2017, athletes will compete for gold, silver and bronze in the disciplines Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom. The races in St. Moritz, which all finish at the Salastrains finish area, will take place on 13/14 and 15 December 2021.
